A world-class skiing paradise
Snow-sure Geilo offers a world-class skiing paradise. For the past three years, Geilo has been named "Norway’s Best Ski Resort" by the World Ski Awards. Here, you'll find slopes suited for everyone—from children and beginners to experienced ski enthusiasts.
This fantastic ski resort features 21 ski lifts and 45 slopes, ranging from fun children’s areas and gentle green runs to challenging terrain parks and steep black runs. The resort is located on both the north and south sides of the valley, with a ski bus making it easy to travel between them. In the base areas, you can rent modern, well-maintained skis, and Geilo also offers several ski schools to help you improve your skiing skills.
Cross-country skiing in breathtaking high-mountain scenery
Laftehovda is the perfect starting point for amazing cross-country skiing adventures across vast white plateaus. Geilo is the gateway to both Hallingskarvet National Park and Hardangervidda National Park, home to some of the best cross-country skiing areas in Norway.
Geilo offers more than 500 kilometers of groomed trails, both in the valleys and on the mountain plateaus. Here, you’ll find everything from short, flat trails for beginners to challenging high-mountain routes along the mountain peaks. The cross-country skiing season typically starts in October/November and lasts all the way until May. For enthusiasts, it's often possible to ski in the higher mountain areas well into June.
A cycling paradise
in the mountains
Geilo is well-equipped for cycling, and at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, you'll find a variety of beautiful bike trails and facilities for the whole family, as well as tough high-mountain routes for those seeking an extra challenge.
From Laftehovda, you have easy access to all the unique cycling experiences that Hol has to offer.
